Wet Behind the Ears

Azure seas. Island after island in view. But, raining. Fat drops on hot pebbles. I hear them sizzle. Every now and then, the clock from the bell tower strikes.

Not used to sitting still for long, I drop off, awakened by the rivulets of sweat running down my neck and stomach. I shouldn’t have eaten so much.

Who’d have thought that the good life would come down to this?
