KYSO Flash is pleased to announce the nomination of seven works (published during calendar year 2018) for the debut issue of the Best Microfiction anthology series:

Nominations of works of 400 words or fewer will be accepted through 2018, and Best Microfiction 2019 will be published in spring 2019 by Pelekinesis Press. Award-winning microfiction writer/editor Meg Pokrass and Flannery O’Connor Prize-winning author Gary Fincke are co-editing the anthology.

Novelist and writer of short stories Dan Chaon will serve as final judge. Chaon’s novel Among the Missing was a finalist in 2001 for the National Book Award, and his fiction has been called “distinguished” by the editors of Best American Short Stories and The Pushcart Prize. His stories have been reprinted in Best American Short Stories (1996), The O’Henry Prize Stories (2001), and The Pushcart Prize (2000, 2002, 2003).*

Dan Chaon also selected “Health Care,” a story by Dick Bentley which our publisher had nominated from Serving House Journal, where she served as an Associate Editor from the journal’s inception until its retirement after the Spring 2018 issue.
